Deep Dive: The Vice-Chancellor’s (VC) Scholarship Fund
Launched in late 2025 under the theme “Investing in Futures,” the VC’s Scholarship Fund is NUST’s strategic move to ensure that financial hardship never stops raw talent.
Aligned with Heritage-Based Education 5.0 and NDS1, this fund is specifically for those who want to drive Zimbabwe's industrialization and modernization.
- ✔ Who it's for: Students from marginalized or low-income backgrounds.
- ✔ Selection Criteria: High academic performance at A-Level (STEM subjects) and proven financial need.
- ✔ The Goal: To produce innovators who will lead Zimbabwe toward an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
“The VC’s Fund is not just a safety net; it’s a launchpad. It’s NUST’s promise that the best minds in STEM will be nurtured, regardless of their bank balance.” ~ Prof. M.E. Dlodlo, Vice-Chancellor.
Other Scholarships at NUST
Beyond the VC's fund, NUST students are eligible for several prestigious external bursaries:
- Joshua Nkomo Scholarship (Higherlife Foundation): For top-performing A-Level students (mostly 15 pointers). Applications usually open shortly after results.
- Beit Trust Undergraduate Bursaries: Financial support for students from ZW, ZM, and MW.
- Corporate Bursaries: Companies like Delta, Econet, and Old Mutual often scout for top NUST Engineering and Finance students.
